What is really the purpose of basketball uniforms? Well, they give the team a sense of identity, of belonging. For the people watching, they know who belongs to which team even if they can't recognize the players by face or they are too far away to be able to see clearly. This is an even better way of identification when you are watching a game of basketball on TV. For the player, wearing his team's colors is a sense of pride and achievement.
